About The Role As a Cost Engineer, Packaging and Logistics, you will drive cost efficiency and sustainability at HARMAN Automotive by developing cost and CO2e assessment models, analyzing supplier quotes, and identifying innovative solutions. You will collaborate with Engineering and Product Sourcing teams to set cost targets and support key negotiations, combining technical expertise with a focus on impactful, sustainable design. What You Will Do: Support internal and external databases to build cost and life-cycle CO2e assessment models that will establish Design-to-Cost, CO2e reduction targets for components, modules, assemblies designed into HARMAN Automotive products. Support the HARMAN “best practice” cost and CO2e reference for the Harman Automotive products to a component level: Review cost breakdowns from supplier quotes and understand all cost influent factors. Support the technical definition and implementation of electronic system cost and CO2e modeling solutions, including the identification of analytics that enable trend data to be established. Support close technical relationships with suppliers to identify best cost solutions, including emerging technologies that provide cost and CO2e improvements. Partner with Engineering & Product Sourcing teams during the new business quoting phase to establish reference cost targets. Contribute during negotiating events with target costing. What You Need: Minimum 3 years work experience in the following areas: For E(Mechanical): o VA/VE of (E)/mechanical components and systems. o Engineering automotive (E)/mechanical components and systems. o Advanced manufacturing engineering. Ability to solve complex technical topics through structure solutions. Presentation skills and demonstrated ability to effectively present complex technical topics. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Experience working in a fast paced, highly measured, results focused environment. Negotiation level English. Understanding of automotive electronic systems is highly desirable, including experience selecting and/or recommending automotive grade components. Ability to breakdown component costs into the constituent costs. Experience with factors impacting design for CO2e improvement. Ability to share knowledge and best practices with teammates.
