Role Overview We are seeking an expert, versatile, and dynamic Manufacturing Assurance Engineer to play a crucial role in both ensuring Quality standards and overseeing manufacturing processes for our space projects. This position combines rigorous quality system implementation with manufacturing line design and project management, requiring a strong foundation in both quality assurance and advanced manufacturing techniques. Key Responsibilities and Tasks Manufacturing Process and Quality System Design: Integrate and optimize production processes with a focus on additive manufacturing (SLM/PBF), machining, and assembly technologies, incorporating Lean Manufacturing principles and Industry 4.0/5.0 concepts. Design and implement tailored quality assurance protocols specifically for space systems, ensuring adherence to industry standards such as ISO 9001, AS 9100, and ESA regulatory requirements (ECSS-Q). Production and Process Quality Control: Oversee and validate manufacturing readiness and quality checkpoints throughout all phases—from initial design to production launch. Conduct FMEA, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions to ensure production reliability, enhance process stability, and resolve quality issues promptly. Draft and implement detailed Process Control Plans and Inspection Procedures, ensuring seamless integration with MES for real-time process monitoring. Project and Quality Management: Coordinate project timelines, budgets, and resources, closely collaborating with external suppliers and cross-functional internal teams. Report on project progress, focusing on quality milestones, risk mitigation, and completion of verification and validation activities to maintain high quality standards. Quality Engineering and Continuous Improvement: Establish, track, and analyse quality KPIs (e.g., PPAP, PPM, OEE) to assess production performance, promote continuous improvement, and maintain high-quality outputs. Lead initiatives that improve manufacturability and reinforce quality standards using MES data and additional quality tools. Supplier Quality Management: Oversee supplier quality protocols, including production approvals (PPAP) and conducting regular audits of suppliers, subcontractors, and manufacturing facilities. Ensure that all supplier operations align with contractual quality standards and maintain accurate documentation in line with company procedures. Documentation and Compliance: Develop and manage comprehensive documentation, including quality plans, procedures, work instructions, and technical records, to uphold ISO and space industry standards and maintain regulatory compliance. Mandatory Qualifications and Skills Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering. Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing and quality roles, preferably within the space, aerospace, or automotive industries. Strong proficiency in quality management tools (SPC, Six Sigma), analysis techniques (FMEA/FMECA, RCA), and familiarity with international quality standards (ISO 9001, AS 9100) and space quality standards (ESA ECSS-Q). Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to handle complex quality issues in a high-stakes environment. Fluent in both English and Italian, with strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Skills Master’s degree in a relevant field. Experience with metrology and measurement methods. Experience with advanced space industry regulations and specialized quality tools for spacecraft subsystems. Familiarity with CAD and engineering software to support process design and quality analysis.
