Job Title: Central Lab Operations Lead Department: Central Lab Services Full-time Location: Milan, Italy My client is a globally recognized, full-service Contract Research Organization (CRO) with a network of state-of-the-art laboratories across multiple continents. Their comprehensive solutions span drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD), safety and toxicology, bioanalytical services, chemistry and manufacturing controls, and core laboratory services for clinical trials. Position Summary My client is seeking an experienced Central Lab Operations Lead to oversee the operations of their Central Lab services in Milan. This role will focus on logistics management and the expansion of laboratory capabilities, including the introduction of safety and flow cytometry testing. The successful candidate will be key to ensuring operational excellence and supporting the delivery of high-quality laboratory solutions for clinical trials. Roles and Responsibilities Central Lab Operations Manage all Central Lab activities, ensuring the effective handling, processing, and storage of samples. Develop and implement workflows and SOPs to maintain compliance with GLP/GCP standards. Ensure quality and reliability in laboratory testing processes and data reporting. Collaborate with global teams to align operations with corporate objectives. Logistics Services Leadership Oversee logistics operations, including sample receipt, storage, and shipping, while ensuring regulatory compliance. Establish efficient systems for tracking sample status and maintaining chain-of-custody records. Address logistical challenges proactively to ensure client satisfaction and timely operations. Laboratory Development Drive the development of laboratory testing capabilities, including safety and flow cytometry services. Partner with technical teams to validate assays and design workflows for new testing services. Recruit, train, and manage laboratory staff as the site expands. Maintain regulatory readiness and high-quality standards in lab operations. Collaboration and Communication Serve as a primary contact for clients, providing updates and addressing inquiries related to lab and logistics services. Foster collaboration with other sites to ensure an integrated and consistent approach. Report operational metrics and progress to senior leadership. Qualifications and Skills Bachelor’s degree or higher in a scientific discipline (e.g., biology, chemistry, clinical laboratory science) or equivalent experience. Extensive experience in central lab operations, including logistics and laboratory services. Expertise in laboratory testing, with experience in safety and flow cytometry testing preferred. Knowledge of GLP, GCP, and ISO standards governing central lab operations. Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Effective written and verbal communication abilities. Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of Italian is a plus. Show more Show less
