Job Description
Do you have strong generalist and managerial skills, including financial insight and a strategic view? Do you want to help operate and further develop an institute that carries out excellent biomedical research into major public diseases across sectors and disciplines? Then the position as head of the secretariat at the Department of Molecular Medicine (IMM) is for you.
Areas of responsibility
As secretary manager, you will:
Function as part of the department's management and in collaboration with the head of department, operate and develop strategies and sub-policies.
Support research strategy development in interaction with the individual research units and an external advisory board.
Management support to the head of department and handle the department's administrative affairs, such as planning, coordination, reporting and communication.
Run and set the framework for internal meeting forums (Management meetings, department council and working environment) and the follow-up activities.
Drive the work environment work in collaboration with the head of department.
Together with the head of the department, be personnel manager for employees in the department's operational functions.
Handle the communication of news and dissemination of research results and teaching activities.
Develop and catalyze an optimal researcher support function at IMM with Syddansk Forskerstøtte.
Engage in close collaboration with the other departments and cross-cutting departments within finance, HR, education, research support, communication and the PhD school in connection with e.g. recruitment, acquisition of external research funds, ongoing financial management and communication.
Represent IMM in administrative forums at the university and cooperate with the joint administration at SDU.
Qualifications
We are looking for a manager with:
A long higher education and strong administrative generalist skills.
Ability to navigate, collaborate and maintain calm and overview in a university environment with strong disciplines and many nationalities.
Experience with daily operations, strategic thinking and implementation of changes.
Competences within personnel management and employee development.
Strong relational skills and collaboration skills.
Knowledge of public administration and preferably experience from the university sector.
Good organizational understanding, political flair and experience in working with managers at all levels.
Strong communicative skills in Danish and English in writing and speaking, as the everyday language is English.
Preferably familiar with the Danish working environment legislation, especially in relation to laboratory environments.
Preferably familiar with the Danish funding landscape, preferably within the research area.
About the institute and the faculty
The Department of Molecular Medicine is part of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Southern Denmark. The faculty conducts research at a high international level in areas that are relevant to public health and disease treatment, and aims to improve human health. IMM employs approximately 160 full-time employees and has a total economic activity of around DKK 130 million. DKK annually.
