The Daily Banking Cluster in Commerzbank is building the bank’s online banking application . With over 1 million daily users and over 15 million API calls per day and growing, this is one of the largest projects of its kind in Europe . Utilizing modern technologies such as React, Java-based microservices, Oracle, Kafka, Docker and OpenShift, and together with other teams in Prague who are building the partner mobile app, we are building a next-generation online banking experience. We are now putting together a new team in Prague and looking for best-in-class talent to build a new tool in the online banking portal for our small and medium-sized business customers, helping them to manage their daily finances. Given the high-profile of the application, this new team has a huge responsibility, making this an intensive, exciting and truly unique opportunity to expand and develop your organizational skills and international experience. As DevOps Manager , you will have full responsibility for the operation of the new tool being developed. This involves monitoring, fault remediation, root-cause analysis, impact assessment and communication with stakeholders. Close cooperation with the development team will be essential to solve production issues and manage regular deliveries as well as production hot-fixes. As this is a new project with the first production version planned for 2026 , the first year will involve significant DevOps work, cooperating closely with the development team to design and build the CICD infrastructure needed. Your experience in DevOps and architecture will play a vital role when cooperating with the development team on the architectural design choices when designing the application landscape. Therefore, experience with distributed systems, cloud-based infrastructure and microservice/monolithic architecture will be imperative. As a DevOps Manager you will: Hold full responsibility for the operation of the production systems of the new project. Implement monitoring and alerting mechanisms. Assess the impact of production faults and communicate this to stakeholders – Incident Management. Work with the development team to fix production issues. Work with the development team and PO to delivery regular releases whilst ensuring operational stability – Change Management. Provide consultation on planning of infrastructure and tooling. Play a key role in shaping the system architecture. Design, implement and maintain CICD pipelines. Design and implement infrastructure for test automation (unit, integration and e2e). Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Participate in a pool of operations engineers to provide on-call support of banking applications (around 1 week every 3 months). Preparation of operating and maintenance cost estimates. Manage High Availability, Disaster Recovery and backup and restore solutions. We prefer someone with these skills and experiences: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field. At least 5 years’ experience in IT. Excellent communication skills in English written and spoken. Business/banking knowledge and understanding of corporate banking and related IT & business processes is an advantage. System architecture. Extensive DevOps experience. Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Unix/Linux knowledge on the level of application operations. Monitoring and logging experience, e.g. Dynatrace, Kibana. Scripting languages (Bash, Python, etc). Docker/OpenShift. Familiarity with Java, SQL, Kafka. CICD pipelines including experience in designing and implementing them. Familiarity with Scrum or other agile methodologies.
