Position Overview : The Optics Manager/Senior Manager will be responsible for leading the optical design and development process, ensuring the delivery of high-performance, reliable optical systems for automotive lighting products. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong technical background in optics, automotive lighting applications, and plastic product design, while also possessing excellent leadership skills to guide and mentor a team of optical engineers. Key Responsibilities : Lead the design, development, and validation of optical systems for automotive lighting products, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, product development, and manufacturing, to integrate optical designs into product solutions. Manage the optical design process from concept to production, overseeing simulations, prototyping, and testing of optical systems. Provide technical guidance and leadership to a team of optical engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Develop and maintain optical performance specifications, ensuring compliance with automotive industry standards and customer requirements. Conduct regular reviews of optical design and development activities to identify potential improvements and implement corrective actions. Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in optical engineering and automotive lighting. Ensure timely delivery of optical systems within budget constraints, while meeting all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. Qualifications : Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in optical design and development, with a strong focus on automotive lighting and plastic products. Proven track record of successfully leading optical design teams, managing projects, and delivering high-quality automotive lighting solutions. Expertise in optical simulation tools (e.g., Zemax, LightTools) and hands-on experience with prototyping and testing. Strong understanding of automotive lighting standards, regulations, and customer requirements. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify challenges and drive effective solutions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Proficiency in English (spoken and written). Knowledge of Italian is a plus. Preferred Skills : Experience with plastic optical systems and manufacturing processes. Familiarity with the latest trends and technologies in automotive lighting.
