Business Unit Overview This position is opened for Novanta’s Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) group specialized in the field of Minimally Invasive Medicine where we in World of Medicine (WOM) part develop devices and accessories so that doctors can operate with small cuts. Another part of MIS group is National Display Systems (NDS) business where we develop and produce cameras, displays, video recorders and routing systems that make diagnosis and treatment easier for everyone. Together with customers, doctors, and technical experts, our teams continuously search for new ways to innovate. Job Summary As an OS Developer, you’ll play a crucial role in designing, implementing, configuring, and deploying QNX-based operating systems for embedded devices. You’ll work closely with a platform team, Software, System, Test and Hardware Engineers primarily on pumps and insufflators for minimum invasive surgeries to meet new product requirements. Primary Responsibilities Integration and Configuration : Design and implement device drivers/resource managers according to given interface architecture. Collaborate with teams to integrate QNX operating systems into embedded devices, configure kernel parameters and system libraries. Optimize QNX configurations for memory footprint, power efficiency, and real-time performance. Deployment And Troubleshooting Contribute to development of SW architecture in regards to embedded OS and related requirements. Deploy QNX images onto hardware platforms and troubleshoot issues related to bootloaders, drivers, and system initialization. Cybersecurity And Hardening Implement security best practices, including access controls, firewalls, and encryption. Harden the system against potential cyber threats. Vulnerability Monitoring And Mitigation Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to identify vulnerabilities. Apply timely updates to mitigate security risks. Role Requirements Required Experience, Education, Skills and Competencies Skills: Proficiency in programming languages C++ and object-oriented design. Proficiency in troubleshooting, system libraries, and device drivers. Experience: Experience with any RTOS or QNX, embedded systems, and kernel configuration. Knowledge: RTOS/QNX or Linux OS Language skills: Fluent English for communication with colleagues abroad. Nice To Have OS development experience. Technologies: Experience with cryptography, hardening methodologies and principles. CI, CD experience (Jenkins). Certifications: Certifications in QNX/Linux, Embedded Systems, or related fields. University degree in Engineering or Computer Science. Travel Expectations Occasional travel. Less than 10% of work time a year.
