A new opportunity has opened up for a Senior Platform Engineer to join our Platform Capabilities team, part of our UK & Ireland Infrastructure tribe! As Senior Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting Flutter UK&I’s internal next-generation Infrastructure automation. Your squad will consist of highly skilled engineers whom your experience and guidance will strengthen. The squad’s goal is to enable our Tribes to evolve their software and services with minimal friction. Being excited to work with the latest technologies, you will develop solutions driven by business priorities and internal customer requirements. This role will give you the opportunity to have an influence our infrastructure automation strategy. Your role in ‘better’ Designing, developing, supporting, and optimising our next-gen automation based on Kubernetes Operators written in Go and deployed to Kubernetes. Designing and implementing projects for new automation and shared tooling. Developing in Go and other languages where necessary. Planning and developing CI/CD pipelines using Groovy for Jenkins Pipelines and Job DSL. Supporting other teams with automation and shared toolset queries and requests. Work closely with other teams, implementing changes that help improve speed and release quality. Write and keep up-to-date documentation. Own improvements to the tools, following the software development lifecycle through tests and into live. You will help ensure our services meet their service level objectives through automated monitoring and alerting. You will proactively investigate the performance of our services to identify enhancements and report service metrics to the SLM team. Keep up to date with the latest open-source technology, and best practises and suggest areas where new tools or practices can help the business achieve its goals. How you’ll create ‘better’ Working experience with at least one programming language, preferably Golang. AWS experience supporting cloud native infrastructure through tooling and automation. Working knowledge of using the supported products in a production environment including Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, CDK, Networking, AWS, Git, Jenkins (or similar CI system) & general Linux operations. A deep understanding of how firewall, DNS, and load balancing functions. Good knowledge of MySQL, from a user and maintainer perspective. Experience with managing high-load, high-performance applications. Able to help develop and prioritise a roadmap for the supported products and services. Able to input into the ways of working and structure of the squad, to develop engineers and identify and fill skills gaps. Strong people and communication skills.
