Department: Engineering Employment Type: Permanent – Full Time Location: Brno – Czech Republic Reporting To: Sr Dir Business Development Description Lummus Technology is looking for an experienced Tech Services Engineer to provide post start-up technical services and assistance to our clients worldwide. This is a fast-paced and hands-on position that works directly with our clients to provide critical services, including troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and planning for refining & gasification and petrochemical unit turnarounds. Key Responsibilities Primary contact for technical service requests from technology licensee customers. Plan and execute new unit start-ups leading to prompt acceptance of unit performance by client. Provide feedback for improvement in design and procedures based on field experience. Manage and direct client interface during high-stress situations such as plant start-ups, turnarounds and emergencies. Participate in technology improvements including flow scheme development, catalyst evaluation, scaling up pilot plant data and R&D review. Answer difficult operating and production questions after start-up/test run. Independently lead investigations into process and operations issues with cross-functional teams. Manage small engineering studies with multi-office project execution. Establish and maintain strong relationships with our customers to support their facilities throughout their entire lifecycle. Visit customer sites worldwide to assess petrochemical plant performance and recommend improvements. Record, compile, and analyze operating and design data to evaluate performance and diagnose issues. Survey customers to benchmark performance and practices. Participate in design reviews with technology teams. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and training courses for customers, including the creation and maintenance of Best Practices and Troubleshooting Guides. Document all technical service activity, including recording of technical service tickets, tracking of man-hour usage, and capture of knowledge gained. Participate in development of remote monitoring for customer plant sites. Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Basic Qualifications Education: B.S. in Chemical Engineering Minimum 7 years of experience with start-up units and plant operations. Minimum 5 years of experience in Petrochemical or Refining technologies. Up to 50% travel required. Strong written and communication skills. Must be able to problem-solve, take initiative, be proactive in completing work assignments and work independently. Ability to interact successfully with internal and external clients in all areas of expertise. Ability to make technical presentations. Proficiency in chemical process simulation (PROII, HYSIS, etc.). Ability to multi-task and prioritize. Show more Show less
