Job Description

The University Hospital for Large Animals, Department of Clinical Veterinary Medicine, University of Copenhagen, is looking for a manager for the clinical veterinary team from 15 May 2025 or soon after. The position is a permanent AC-TAP full-time position. As clinic veterinarian manager, you have personnel responsibility for the clinic veterinarian team, which consists of a total of 9-10 veterinarians. These are mainly employed in 3-year positions, but eventually 1 permanent hospital veterinarian will be employed in the team. The position includes active participation in clinical teaching, but is without research rights and obligations. The working hours are an average of 37 hours/week and are predominantly during the day, with a smaller part in shifts outside normal opening hours. Tasks As clinic veterinary manager, you have management responsibility for the team's veterinarians. In collaboration with the hospital manager, you will be responsible for the ongoing recruitment processes of new clinic vets and hospital vets as well as for the planning of their induction process at the hospital. You are also responsible for schedule planning with ongoing coordination of staffing and shift changes, coordination and execution of workshops, journal club etc. in the team. You have a mandate to delegate administrative management tasks to the hospital veterinarian corresponding to the administrative time that lies in their positions. In addition, you take care of the daily ad hoc management tasks in the clinic veterinary team, and are responsible for the group entering into a good and constructive collaboration with the other departments at the hospital. In addition, you are expected to be part of the hospital's management team, including participation in relevant meetings and working groups. In the hospital, you are part of the clinical work of the clinic veterinary team, where you, in collaboration with the other hospital staff, take care of all practical matters regarding the admission, treatment and repatriation of both the hospital's own and referred patients, and also follow the admitted patients during their hospital stay with examinations and treatments. You must be prepared to be part of the hospital's operational back-office team, where you have 24-hour telephone duty 7 days in a row every 4-5 days. week and public holidays after a roll. In the operations back shift, you take care of temporary cover in case of illness outside normal working hours and are available for operational questions in the emergency room shifts. Emphasis is placed on the clinical veterinary manager being motivated in both veterinary and managerial terms. The position requires good communication and collaboration skills. You must be solution-oriented and good at keeping many balls in the air. Education requirements Employment as clinic veterinary manager requires Danish authorization as a veterinarian, just as experience from clinical equine practice is a prerequisite. The employment is covered by the collective agreement in force at all times between the Ministry of Taxation and AC/The Danish Veterinary Association.
