Job Description

We are looking for a professionally skilled nurse with psychiatric experience and a desire to work independently for a position as a district psychiatric home nurse in Maniitsoq as of 1 August 2025. The position may be filled by a Health Assistant with several years of experience in psychiatry, documented medical competence, and post- or further education in psychiatry. We offer a professionally exciting, independent and challenging job as a psychiatric home nurse at Maniitsoq Hospital. The position is a permanent position, but can be applied for as a 3-6 month temporary position from 1 August 2025. The position is 40 hours a week, attendance between 8-16 on weekdays, within working hours you organize your own tasks. The psychiatric home care has approx. 60 citizens, all with a wide spectrum of psychiatric disorders and problems. You meet the patient, who gives attendance on an outpatient basis or during home visits in the city's housing units or private homes. If you do not speak the Greenlandic language, you have an interpreter available in your work. Tasks are primarily patient contact, self-supporting conversations, medication administration, follow-up on effects, side effects, EKG and blood test checks as well as delivery, special attention is paid to compliance, CRAM and patients with a sentence for treatment. In addition to psychoeducation, establishing meetings with a group of relatives, contact with a social worker with a view to implementing support for the good life, guidance, supervision and support for the staff on the ward during patients' admission or for the staff at the city's housing units, support persons - a task that must be given high priority. The patients highly value their psychiatric home nurse and regard this as an important part of their lives in terms of interview well-being and contact with other authorities. Psychiatric home nursing also assists patients in outpatient assessment and outpatient treatment for anxiety and depression, preventive procedures after serious suicidal episodes with contact via teams for outpatient treatment with psychologists and psychiatrists in Nuuk. About us: Maniitsoq Health Center is part of Health Region Qeqqa and has around 60 employees. The staff is distributed at the Health Center and in the three associated nursing stations in the district's settlements. The Health Center's bed ward has room for 18 hospitalized patients of all ages. The department covers all specialties here, including psychiatric patients. 5 nurses, 4 healthcare assistants and 4 healthcare assistants are employed on the bed ward. The nurses are on day and evening shift and after the evening shift are on call at night from their own home - with a doctor on call. Between 16.00 and 08.00 the bed ward functions as an emergency room - however, we do not expect you to have experience in the emergency room. The health center handles the primary areas of somatic and psychiatric home care, health care, pregnancy care, physiotherapy, venereal and contraception clinic, as well as 2-3 doctor consultations. In addition, the center has a laboratory, X-ray, nursing consultation, emergency room/reception, and pharmacy.We attaches great importance to the care and dealings with our patients containing values such as respect, orderliness, recognition and trust. The same values ​​characterize our interaction with each other at the health centre. A little about Maniitsoq: Maniitsoq is located on the west coast of Greenland, just south of the Arctic Circle between Nuuk in the south and Sisimiut in the north.
