We are currently looking for a Deputy Chief for the Economic Staff in the Defense Command. About us The Defense Command's Economic Staff supports the financial management of the Armed Forces and is a financial adviser to managers at all levels in the Armed Forces, from the Chief of Defense to the local chief responsible for the budget. We advise across the armed forces, staffs and commands with very different task portfolios, and we advise nationally and internationally. It is thus a very broad and deep area of responsibility with many different tasks, which are handled by both civilian and military employees with different skills. Together, we are responsible for creating the basis for good financial management in the Armed Forces. We are organizationally anchored in the Defense Staff in the Defense Command, but are geographically located around the country at the Defense units. Organisationally, we are divided into four departments consisting of three departments with a primary focus on business controlling and advice aimed at the three defences, as well as a strategy and development department. You will gain great insight into the group's overall finances and operational management, as well as insight into a specialist area which is in great demand across the group and which will be able to develop your management practice going forward. In addition, you will gain a great insight into the Defence's management mechanisms and the relevant link between planning and finance, and the position implies that you are close to the top management's operational decisions in the Defence. The cooperation in the financial staff is characterized by an open, honest and informal tone, where it is your professional results that count. There is good unity as a foundation for the important task solution. In addition, the financial staff is a place where good decisions are concretely operationalized and where you can see the effect of your efforts. In total, we are approx. 100 employees, of which approx. half are located at Flyvestation Karup in Jutland. About the position You will be deputy head of the financial staff and also head of the strategy and development department, which is a central part of the staff located in Karup. In the absence of the head of the financial staff, you will be the Deputy. Your primary tasks will be to ensure an ambitious approach to financial management and constant work to optimize financial processes and results, as well as ensure a close link with the Armed Forces' other planning processes. As deputy manager, it is also important to be able to secure and maintain an overview of the financial status and planning, so that advice can be given on a solid basis about the prioritization of the available funds. A large part of the financial management is linked to salary management, but the position requires general knowledge of the financial management of a complex public company. And not least ensure the continued development of your employees' and managers' professional competences through targeted development and sparring. Other tasks include: Head of the Project and Resource Management Element, the Control and Compliance Element and the Level I Element, a total of approx. 28 employees and managers Represent the finance staff as part of the defense staff in a number of forums across the Ministry of Defence's area Coordinate topics of a primarily financial nature with deputy managers in e.g. The Army, the Navy, the Air Force and the Ministry Lead the work of the financial staff with financial advice, which includes is a contribution to settlement projects Be an executive in the finance staff's role as control environment manager for financial processes in the Defense Command Handle the audit area in the defense command, including follow-up on audits and coordination with the National Audit Office Manage the finance staff's internal finances About you The position can be filled by both civilian and military candidates. If you are a civilian, we expect you to have a relevant academic education at master's level or equivalent. If you are an officer, you have completed further education level II or Master in Military Studies. We expect you to have management experience from a public authority (e.g. municipal or regional) or large private company, where you have achieved good results. In addition, we expect you to: Have in-depth knowledge of financial and operational management in a larger organisation. Is analytical and
g holistic in your approach to your areas of responsibility. Creates results that can be used and implemented in practice. Balances between guiding and guiding in collaborative relationships Works with a focus on results in both the short and long term It would be an advantage to have knowledge of the Ministry of Defence's work with settlement management and implementation As a person, you must be professionally curious and proactive in your management role, including being able to set direction and lead finance-specialized staff with very different educational backgrounds and work experience. You must be able to lead into a business-oriented role, where the business' task solution is put at the center, and where foresight and relationships are essential elements in your managerial work. Finally, emphasis will be placed on you being assessed as broadly applicable to other leadership positions within the Ministry of Defence's area of authority. Terms of employment: Salary and terms of employment are negotiated according to the framework agreement on contract employment of managers in the state and are set as a starting point for annual terms. The final salary package will depend on your background and qualifications, but the position is placed in salary group 1. In addition, there is an opportunity to negotiate supplements based on qualifications. An employer-financed pension is attached to the position. If you are already a civil servant, there is a possibility that the employment can take place as a civil servant in salary range 37 after a specific assessment. The position is available for occupation on 1 July 2025. Your daily duty station is Flyvestation Karup. As an employee of the Ministry of Defence, you are covered by some special conditions. This means, among other things, that you must be able to obtain security clearance and maintain this throughout your employment period. For military employment, you must be able to meet the Armed Forces' health requirements for participation in international missions and be able to pass physical tests in accordance with the Armed Forces' requirements.
