Synscenter Refsnæs has access for citizens to the housing facilities Birkehuset and Egehuset. Therefore, we are now looking for 2 educators per [phone removed], who want to work with a unique target group of children and young adults within a specialized field.
Synscenter Refsnæs is the national special educational, resource and knowledge center for children, young people and adults with visual impairment, including blindness, as well as children, young people and adults with additional functional impairments.
Synscenter Refsnæs is part of the social area in Region Zealand and located in Kalundborg municipality.
The housing offers
Birkehuset is a residential facility for young adults with visual impairment and multiple functional impairments.
The target group's level of mental development varies from approx. 3 months and up to 2 years.
Egehuset is a residential facility for children and young people with visual impairments and multiple functional impairments.
The target group's level of mental development varies from approx. 6 months and up to 8 years.

The educational efforts in the residential facilities are individually organized and take as a starting point the individual's prerequisites, resources and wishes to influence their own life.
In the job, you will largely have to focus on developing and organizing activities that contribute to strengthening the young people's social skills. We also prioritize activities of a physical nature, such as bike rides, walks, activities in the swimming pool, gym, etc.
We are looking for a caring, present, committed and energetic colleague who can work independently, but is also passionate about professional development and sparring in a strong team. You naturally put the young person at the center and work calmly and respectfully according to individual goals and sub-goals.
You are passionate about working with the target group, and find joy in the very small victories in everyday life. You rest in the fact that the young people's development happens calmly and gradually over time. You are patient in the relationship with the individual and are also able to adapt activities based on the individual's daily schedule. You want to involve and engage in the team, and see supervision as an opportunity for development. You contribute with present and relational educational work with plenty of time for the individual citizen. You thrive in working with changing working hours with a high degree of flexibility.
About the position
Versatile position with good training and development opportunities, where you will receive the necessary training from the start. In addition to the development activities, your tasks will include be:

Cooperation with relatives

Participation in hospital visits, collaboration with case managers, etc.

Interdisciplinary collaboration with nurses, occupational and physiotherapists.

Help the young people with personal hygiene and practical tasks at home such as cooking, cleaning, laundry etc.

Possibility of functioning as a supervisor for pedagogic students.

Contact person for 1-2 residents in collaboration with other colleagues.

The working hours
Birkehuset: Is divided into day and evening shifts, 1-2 sleeping night shifts per month, as well as work every other weekend.
Egehuset: Is divided into day and evening shifts, 1-2 awake night shifts per month and work every other weekend.
