As a Data Engineer, you manage and optimize data pipelines from multiple sources to ensure seamless and efficient workflows. You design and maintain secure, scalable data systems while monitoring daily operations and resolving data-related issues promptly. Additionally, you fine-tune database performance, maintain comprehensive documentation, and collaborate closely with data scientists and analysts to meet their data requirements. Your ultimate goal is to provide reliable datasets that empower business and analytical insights. Key activities and responsibilities of this role include: Design and implement complex ETL pipelines from multiple data sources. Design and implement scalable, secure, and robust data architectures. Assist in development and maintenance of data models, databases, data warehouses, and data lakes. Database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing. Provide valuable datasets to business users and analysts. Monitor the daily data operations to ensure smooth and efficient data pipelines. Assist in troubleshooting data-related issues; provide resolution in a timely manner. Maintain detailed documentation regarding the data architecture, data flows, and operational procedures. Be close to data scientists, machine learning engineers and business analysts to understand the requirements on data. Requirements A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field. 2-4 years of experience in Data Engineering or related role. Internships and academic projects may be considered. A master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field will be an asset. Very good knowledge of SQL and relational databases. Very good programming skills in Python. Experience with data warehousing and ETL processing. Good knowledge of Linux. Experience with at least one NoSQL database (e.g. Apache HBASE, MongoDB). Basic knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g. Docker). Familiarity with Big Data technologies (e.g. Apache Spark, HDFS). Basic understanding of system/platform administration concepts. Experience with Cloud architectures (e.g. Microsoft Azure) will be an asset. Experience with at least one ETL and one BI tool (e.g. Azure Data Factory) will be an asset. Familiarity with streaming technologies (e.g. Apache Kafka) and workflow management tools (e.g. Apache Airflow) will be an asset.
