Job Description

The University Hospital for Large Animals, Department of Clinical Veterinary Medicine, University of Copenhagen, is looking for a hospital veterinarian from 15 May 2025. Or soon after The hospital veterinarian is a permanent position in the clinic veterinary team with an average of 37 hours/week. The positions involve participation in clinical teaching, but are without research rights and obligations. As the hospital is open 24/7, the work will include both day, evening and night shifts on both weekdays, weekends and holidays, approximately 30% of the total working time will be in shifted working hours. The position includes a minor degree of administrative functions corresponding to approx. 1 day a month. It is expected that the hospital vet will be included in the coverage of shifts due to illness and other absences on equal terms with the clinic vets. Tasks: The hospital veterinarian is expected to be a comprehensive person in the clinic who participates in the clinical work on an equal footing with the clinic veterinarian team. The hospital veterinarian must, in collaboration with the other hospital staff, take care of all practical matters regarding admission, treatment, treatment and repatriation of both the hospital's own and referred patients, and otherwise accompany the admitted patients during the hospital stay with examinations and treatments. ,The hospital veterinarian assumes the role of mentor and instructor for new employees in the clinic veterinary team, and supervises them during the first 4 weeks of employment, in agreement with the hospital manager and the clinic veterinary manager. In addition, there will be administrative tasks such as planning, implementation and optimization both in terms of work functions and skills-giving activities in the group of clinic veterinarians, which are continuously distributed and agreed with the clinic veterinarian manager. The hospital veterinarian may be asked to participate in the selection of suitable applicants and employment interviews in the clinic veterinary group. Furthermore, by further agreement, tasks may occur regarding arrangements with referring colleagues and pet owners with a view to understanding our customers and marketing towards them. Emphasis is placed on the hospital veterinarian being professionally motivated and intending to achieve and maintain a high professional level. In addition, emphasis is placed on the applicant being flexible, solution-oriented and with good communication and collaboration skills, and thrives on having a lot of balls in the air. Education requirements: Employment as a hospital veterinarian requires Danish authorization as a veterinarian, just as experience from clinical horse practice and hospital is a prerequisite. In addition, an in-depth knowledge of the team's functions will be an advantage. Salary and terms of employment: The hospital veterinarian's immediate supervisor is the clinic veterinary manager and the hospital manager. The position is an open-ended AC-TAP position, and the employment is covered by the Circular on collective agreement for academics in the state between the Ministry of Taxation and the Academics.
