Job Description
The kariera.gr team is looking for, on behalf of the Athanasios K. Laskaridis Foundation,
Operations Manager
for the
"Typhoon & Cyclone Projects".
The "
Typhoon Project
» started in 2019 with the aim of cleaning the Greek coastline and efficiently managing waste, offering clean beaches for residents and visitors. The driving force behind the program is the "Typhoon", a modern Norwegian-built 72-meter ship, which sails throughout the year, cleaning and transporting waste for recycling or proper disposal. "Typhoon" has 5 speedboats for cleaning hard-to-reach coasts and large capacity bins for sorting waste.
The "
Cyclone Project
”, which started in 2024, focuses on clean-ups in inland areas, such as rivers, lakes and riparian areas, but also in archaeological sites. Through this, sustainability and environmental protection is promoted, in collaboration with local authorities and agencies.
Position Responsibilities
:
Management and daily monitoring of work progress, troubleshooting and ensuring staff needs are met.
Responsible for finding and hiring new staff for the projects, ensuring the teams are properly staffed.
Management of employment contracts, including the collection of required documents and the termination of contracts on a case-by-case basis.
Training and informing new employees about the work and procedures of the "Typhoon & Cyclone Projects", with the aim of their smooth integration into the teams.
Twice a month visits to Typhoon (on board) and Cyclone (on land) projects to monitor and record work, implement corrective measures and submit improvement proposals.
Coordination and planning of staff leaves, as well as their entry and exit, in collaboration with the accounting department.
Organization and coordination of waste removal, in cooperation with the competent services and agencies.
Conduct market research for the supply of materials and services such as sacks and antifouling.
Work with the shipping team to handle procedural issues such as material transfers.
Participating in informing local authorities of "special findings" during the works.
Management of material stocks, ensuring their sufficiency for daily needs.
Participation in meetings and research trips to monitor and support project processes.
Necessary Qualifications
:
Graduate of secondary or higher education.
Very good knowledge of English.
Good MS Office knowledge & ability
understanding and analyzing data.
Management and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to multitask, manage time & prioritize.
Desirable experience in the maritime sector, in marine works companies or in the environmental sector, in a similar position or role.
