Job Description
The Royal Danish Conservatory of Music is advertising a position as professor of cello for occupation with entry on 1 September 2025. The position The prospective professor must oversee the education of cellists up to the highest soloist level, i.e. in the major and all associated disciplines/possibly teaching in business-related majors, e.g. chamber music. It is assumed that the professor, in close cooperation with the other lecturers in the subject group, head of education and the principal, actively contributes to developing the orchestra education. This applies not only to the soloist elements of the courses, but to all parts that aim to promote the students' opportunities to meet the labor market's various demands for specialization in orchestral music, chamber music, early and new music, music pedagogy, communication, project development, etc. It is expected that the professor assumes significant responsibility for leading the cello subject area and participates in the subject group's work with the orchestra training and in the development of the conservatory as a whole. It is crucial that the students are prepared both artistically, creatively and innovatively for the future musical life, which is changing and developing. The position also includes study administrative obligations in connection with the organization of and participation in teaching, exams, entrance exams, meetings, etc. The position's content of artistic development activities (KUV) and educational development activities (PUV) as well as any other artistic projects are organized in agreement with the principal. Qualifications An assessment of the applicants' qualifications is carried out, in which emphasis is placed on: Extensive artistic work as a cellist at an international level Extensive teaching experience with the training of cellists up to the highest level (soloist class) Artistic and/or educational development company or similar company at an international level Orchestra experience and/or in-depth knowledge of the conditions that apply to professional work in a symphony orchestra Ability to collaborate with other personnel groups Possibly. study administrative experience Motivated application, CV, diplomas, materials relating to artistic activities, artistic and educational development activities as well as teaching which the applicant wishes to be included in the assessment, are submitted electronically. The overall application must clarify and document the qualification requirements for the position and contain a detailed explanation of the personal and professional goals the applicant has for the position. Proposals for concrete projects within KUV and PUV can also be sent. A teaching test can be expected to be held in connection with the qualification assessment. The conservatory is a higher secondary artistic education institution with an international profile, where it is natural that all employees can also teach in English. Salary and terms of employment The position is filled on the terms of a collective agreement and is classified in salary range 37, where the salary per 1 April 2024 amounts to DKK 639,938.00 annually on a full-time basis. In addition, pension contributions and any personal allowance. The employment rate of the position is determined on the basis of an agreement on teaching and other tasks during the academic year. The appointment is limited to a period of five years, with the possibility of extension for up to three years. Employment takes place in accordance with the Ministry of Culture's executive order 1123 of 22 August 2018 on the employment of artistic/scientific staff at certain educational institutions under the Ministry of Culture.
